Literally nothing will ever be as satisfying as the 4 minute long fight sequence in Kingsman: The Secret Service, in which Colin Firth mercilessly wastes an entire Westboro Basptist Church like congregation as the guitar solo from Lynard Skynard’s 1973 anthem Freebird plays in the background.
the biggest queer mormon power play ever played was when the lead singer of Neon Trees made the band famous and had several hit songs and then in rolling stone was like “oh btw i’m gay and Sleeping With a Friend is about having sex with a male friend” and then looked at his other band mates like “what are you gonna do about it” and the other band members had to be like (cough) yeah. we, uh, we know it goes against our doctrine but we support him. and he was like “that’s what I thought”
The moral of the story is that if you want to come out to your homophobic friends all you gotta do is become the face and frontman of the band that is their sole source of income and sleep w whoever you want
btw if you like neon trees and tyler glenn please support his solo work!! his solo album “excommunication” is an absolute masterpiece about the internal and external struggles that come with growing up gay in an orthodox religion (mormonism specifically) and it’s helped me through so much. tyler glenn is such a wonderful and talented person and his solo work especially means everything to me.
anyway blackout poetry not just as an art form, but as an act of violence against other works of art
taking a piece of text that someone probably put their heart and soul into creating and using it as your raw material, cutting out everything that you deem irrelevant to the point you want to make
i mean imagine cutting up a painting and using it to make a collage, or taking a marble sculpture and carving pieces out of it to make a different sculpture
